Hey Girls CIC and This Girl Can launch Go With Your Flow, a campaign to support movement throughout the menstrual cycle

Hey Girls and This Girl Can have teamed up to launch Go With Your Flow, a new nationwide campaign celebrating low or no cost ways to move your body in tune with your menstrual cycle.

The campaign takes a light and encouraging approach, recognising that fitting movement into busy lives can be especially hard, particularly for parents.

Rather than promoting rigid exercise routines, Go With Your Flow focuses on listening to your body, making small changes, and finding activities that feel right at every stage of the cycle, whether that’s a walk, gentle stretch, or a dance in the kitchen.

At the heart of the campaign is the message that moving during your period can help manage pain and more. Exercise has been shown to:

  • Reduce cramps and discomfort – physical activity releases endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers, which can ease menstrual cramps and improve mood.
  • Boost mental wellbeing – studies suggest that those who exercise regularly during their cycle report up to a 30% reduction in PMS-related low mood and anxiety.
  • Support overall health – even light movement, like a 10-minute walk, can increase circulation, improve energy, and help regulate sleep – all of which can be disrupted during menstruation.

“We know that over 150 different symptoms can show up during the menstrual cycle, and that can make being active feel daunting,” said Kate Smith, Hey Girls CEO. “But movement doesn’t need to be big or intense to make a difference. With Go With Your Flow, we’re showing that small, everyday actions can help you feel better in both body and mind.”

The campaign will be rolled out through Hey Girls’ community partner network, with posters and leaflets distributed alongside period products. These resources offer simple, practical tips for aligning movement with your cycle, as well as information on sustainable, reusable period products.

“This Girl Can has always been about breaking down barriers to activity,” said Kate Peers, Head of Campaigns, Strategic Lead “Together with Hey Girls, we’re helping women and girls feel confident about moving in their own way, at every stage of their cycle and reframing what ‘counts’ as movement.

Go With Your Flow is open to everyone. Whether you’re part of the Hey Girls community, a parent looking for ways to move with your kids, or simply someone who wants to learn how to support their wellbeing through cycle-aware movement.
